gDial Pro is a Google Voice client for the Palm Pre mobile phone. gDial provides an easy way to call your contacts or send them text messages from your Google Voice number instead of your carrier mobile number.

What is Google Voice?

Google Voice is an Internet based phone forwarding/screening service. Google provides users with a separate number which you can use as your regular number. You can then configure your number based on the incoming call number, a contact group and/or on the time of day. For example, you can create a group of people and have any person that calls within your group forward to your cell number during the day and to your home phone number at night.

What is gDial Pro?

gDial Pro is a Google Voice client for the Palm Pre mobile phone. gDial provides an easy way to call your contacts or send them text messages from your Google Voice number instead of your carrier mobile number.

How do I install and use gDial pro?

In order to use gDial you must have a Google Voice number.

GET A GOOGLE VOICE NUMBER

You can purchase a Google voice number from a number of vendors on eBay – (Using this method you will obtain your Google Voice number instantly)

You can request a Google Voice number for free directly from Google – (using this method may take anywhere from a few days to two weeks)

I have my Google Voice number. What now?

Follow these Step-by-Step instructions to downloading and using gDial Pro:

Once you have downloaded gDial Pro from the App Catalogue you will be prompted to fill out the preferences to make gDial Pro work. The mandatory fields are:

  • Google Voice Number
  • Your Google Voice username and password. This is the same as your Google Account information.
  • PIN
  • Mobile phone number
  • We recommend selecting the “Use Web Based Dial” option.
  • None of the other fields are mandatory.It is not necessary to fill in the Google Contacts fields under preferences.Your information is auto-saved when you move to another screen.

At this point you are ready to use gDial Pro!

  • You can select from a user in your contact list. (You can mange your contact list via Google Contacts)
  • You can use SMS by selecting the SMS button (second from left on the bottom)
  • You can view your history by selecting the history tab (middle button on bottom)
