Newsflash

gDial is currently inactive! If you purchased a subscription we will be refunding and crediting your account in the next day. It became increasingly difficult to support gDial with the ongoing changes at Google and Palm. We loved creating something that so many users really enjoyed using when it worked well

Q - I am getting an invalid username / password message?

A - In most cases when you receive a message like this you do not have a Google Voice account. A Google Voice account is not the same thing as a Gmail account. Although your Google Voice account can be managed from your Google Account you must still apply for a Google Voice number. Once you have a Google Voice number then you can use your Google Account info in the username / password fields.

A2 - If you have a Google Voice account and are still getting this message then it could be that you have entered incorrect data for the username and password.  Unfortunately, at this time, deleting and reinstalling the problem won't help.  You should go into the gDial app menu on the top left and click on preferences to edit your account info.

Q – Can I update the gDial from the App Catalogue?

A – Yes, the Pre will notify you when there is a new version to update via the App Catalogue.

Q – I am getting a webdial error message?

A – This is most likely because you have inputed your Google Voice number for the mobile entry in preferences. For this input please put your mobile carrier number.

Q – I have requested a number from Google. What is the normal wait time?

A – Although we wish we had control over this process this is completely independent of gDial and in Google’s hands. The usual wait time is anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. There are circumstances where people don’t get a number though Google (maybe the email ends up in spam box or just never seen). You can always purchase a Google Invite via eBay – just do a search for Google Invite.

Q – My SMS works fine but I can’t get the dialing (phone) to work?

A – Try turning on webdial in the preferences and seeing if that works. Also, make sure that your cellphone number is setup on Google Voice or it will not let you dial from it.

A – If you are positive that your webdial is turned on then please check to make sure that you have your cellphone number added in Google Voice.

A – Lastly, you need to make sure that in your Google account that you have your mobile number marked correctly. So, Login to your Google account -> You will be defaulted to the Phone tab -> Select your mobile number and edit the type to mobile. That should work.

Q – My dialing (phone) works fine but I can’t get the SMS to work?

A – This appears to be a problem that can only be explained by an incorrect username or password.

Q - My gDial Pro keeps showing the spinning wheel upon refreshing history but it never actually loads any. Is there a fix for this?

A – It is possible that you are connected to a WiFi that blocks access to Google Voice or  your signal is really low and the internet connection isn't working.

Q – In preferences – what is the update frequency and delay amount?

A - The delay amount is the amount of time it waits after calling into your GV number before dialing the outgoing number. And the update frequency is the amount of time before gDial will check for a new history on Google Voice.

Q – What is this W I am seeing next to the dial button?

A - The W is for webdial. The normal dial out uses the phone app to dial your Google Voice number and then enter the number to contact.

The web dial tells Google Voice to call your cell number and then when you answer it connects you to the number you want to dial.

Really just a personal preference. Some people don't want to listen to the dial tones with the normal dial so they use web based.
